KidsVille Holiday Classes

Hello to the Little People,
just a little reminder that we HAVE NOT forgotten you - KidsVille will be running on Tuesday and Thursday mornings throughout January, commencing Tuesday, 11th January.  If you would like your Little Person to receive a KidsVille Gift Voucher for the Classes, please contact Janet.  Mum, Dad, Nan, Pop or Aunty will need to book you in at Scrapville, or email Janet to confirm your spot and pay your $5 Deposit.

I will accept Little People from age 6 to age 15, competent in using the basic tools.  If you would like your Little People to book a class with their friends, then please give me a bit of notice so that I can group you with a more age specific arrangement.  The Little People can be dropped off 5 minutes before class and collected at the appropriate finishing time.

At this stage there will be an option to just scrap or do the class.  The class will be kitted up, so you don't need to choose anything.

You WILL, however, need to bring your basic tools:
  • scissors
  • trimmer
  • pencil & ruler
  • double sided tape
A class list will be put up to the Newsletter / Class List Blog as soon as I can confirm a couple more details, but I am happy for you to book in now to hold your spot.

See you Soon!

DID YOU KNOW???...............
We have just welcomed the newest member of our Creative Team to Scrapville.  I would like to announce to everyone that it is with much pleasure that I welcome Nikki Antonello to the Team.  I have personally known Nikki for several years, and her style is very much known for it’s intricacies in fussy cutting, layering and beautiful flowers.  Nikki’s work is also something I see as coming from the soul, it has such depth and meaning – there’s no other words for it.  I welcome Nikki to the Team, and look forward to sharing the inspirational months ahead with our newest talent.  Please feel free to jump on the Blog and welcome Nikki to the Team.

We have uploaded the December Monthly Pack to the Blog, and there you will find a jam packed Cosmo Cricket Circa 1934 Pack, and a nicely filled Booster.  Pop into the store to check out the Creative Team samples, or visit the Blog.  It is amazing to see the way everyone has interpreted the papers to choose their style of scrapping.  Often you can be purely inspired by the paper's colour or pattern to work your layout, other times the theme behind the design just makes you jump up and grab a certain photo, and you're off.  This range from Cosmo just seems to have a certain sophistication about it, and I can't wait to see how everyone draws their inspiration from it.

A new range of Quilling Tools and Accessories,

ON THE WAY....
The EXCITING NEWS is............... arriving NEXT WEEK is our CIAO COPIC MARKERS!!!
The difference these Markers make need to be seen to be believed!  Keep posted for our Copic Saturday, when we will have the girls playing at the shop so you can see how these wonderful new and exciting markers are best used.  (Be sure to see the gorgeous cards on display behind the front counter).  There will be a lot happening in Scrapville's Copic World in the near future, we will be introducing the most gorgeous stamps to compliment the use of these markers, all the accessories, and so much more.

Also soon to be in-store is the DO-CRAFTS range of products.  If you are a card maker you are going to LOVE these, there's even a magazine packed full of samples and ideas, and instructions for all the projects.  (and their stamps are also just PERFECT for the Ciao Copic Markers..)  There is so much variety with this range you will be surprised!  Stay posted for the Arrival Date.

I'm sure that has given you plenty to look forward to, personally I'm seeing LOTS of brown boxes and that's about it.........

Thank You's...
During November I approached someone to take on the task of preparing an extra layout for the Scrapville Sketch.  I wanted to give this person the opportunity to tackle the Sketch, within it’s guidelines, and show everyone how easy it was to draw from the inspiration of the sketch to come up with a wonderful interpretation.  To this end I would like to thank Sam Epps for her beautiful contribution to the Nov/Dec Sketch, with her use of bright, fresh colours, wonderful layering and balanced design.  I would like to thank Sam for her Sketch, and look forward to sharing more of Sam’s work with you as part of Scrapville’s Special Request Features.

To the girls who have allowed Scrapville to display their layouts and other projects in-store, thanks for taking part.  It's inspiring to be able to see finished products and gain a few new technique ideas.

To all the girls who have attended a CropVille Night or Blind CropVille, thank you for taking part.  It is great meeting up with you all and seeing your creativity at work.

To all those that attended a Class during the year, thank you, and I hope you were able to take away some new ideas, techniques and inspiration.

To the Little People, thank you for coming along to KidsVille, special Mother's Day Class and special Father's Day Class.  It is always a pleasure to see you being excited about your class and what you take home from it.  I'm looking forward to the School Holiday KidsVille to what you can do!

To all the really LITTLE people who often come along and help me draw pictures at the front counter, I'm so glad your drawings are up on the board, because I don't think mine are getting any better!

To the RetreatVille ladies, thank you for taking part in Scrapville's very first 4 Day Event.  As busy as RetreatVille was for me, it was great meeting you all and seeing your work.  There are so many talented ladies out there.  I am looking forward to growing this event with my business and making it an even better RetreatVille for 2011.  I look forward to seeing many repeat attenders, and a few new ones too!!!

NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

Hello Everyone, and welcome to the November Newsletter.

We are now at the 8 week mark until Christmas..... WOW!  Hard to believe where the months have gone.  I am sure you are all finding your days filling up a lot quicker and your weekends disappearing just as quickly with the annual onset of festive events.  Getting those cards made, your gifts ticked off your lists and making holiday plans I'm sure is high on all our lists........ and only 24 hours in the day....

Scrapville has been just as busy organizing plans for our upcoming BIRTHDAY SALE on the 27th of November!!  That's right, one whole year trading in Wodonga.  Opening the shop front was a big decision for me, let alone the daunting task of starting from scratch.  Building up a Customer List, a Creative Team, filling CropVille Nights, Blind CropVille Nights,Sketch Competitions, Classes, KidVille Holiday Classes, Monthly Packs, Monthly Newsletters, Monthly Subscriptions, maintaining the in store gallery and Blog site, and last but not least the successful running of my very FIRST 4 day RetreatVille - well it has been an interesting journey of enormous growth and enjoyment!  But, I have made it through, and on a much lighter note had it not been for the community recognizing and supporting me in the need for a specialized scrapbooking and card making shop front, and without the support and strength of my dear friends, I may well have considered otherwise!

To start off November we have a new Monthly Pack with Christmas in mind.  The good thing about this pack though, is that it is very versatile and could be used for anything really!  The exciting bit of news is that I have chosen the "Christmas Time" range by the newly established lily bee designs.  A sneak peek will be uploaded for you  in the space below.  You will be able to pick up your Monthly Pack on Wednesday when the store re-opens, so be sure to call in and grab one.

We will only be running with the one pack this month, but keep tuned for December!!..............

The November Monthly Pack

And the Optional Booster...

Subscriptions
I have decided to introduce a New Monthly Subscription, and this will be introduced with the November Packs.  All Subscriptions will be for a 6 month period, and come with the option to purchase in advance either the regular Monthly Pack, optional Booster or Monthly Extra Pack.  You may choose to pick up your packs or have them posted to you (for the appropriate area charges) on the 25th of each month prior to the Subscription Month (excluding November).  Those that Subscribe to the Monthly Pack will be offered a free gift when recommending a Friend who Subscribes.  All subscribers will need to complete the New Subscription Registration Form, and can email Janet for your copy.

Only Subscriptions paid in full will be held at Scrapville.  I appreciate that you will understand all the prior preparation, and fully paid subscriptions make this task easier.  There are no exceptions.  A strictly limited quantity will always be made available in store, above any Subscription quantities.  Given the quality of projects produced by the Creative Team using the Scrapville Monthly Packs, you can be assured that the quality and standard of these will continue to be upheld.

Creative Team News...
We have been enjoying the flexibility of new talent in our Creative Team Guest lists, with some wonderful and inspiring layouts along the way.  I would like to thank Heather Bensley for doing such a marvellous job on the team, and because of this the team and I have decided that we are going to keep her on for a little longer!  And to that end, Heather has thankfully agreed!  The Guest role will continue at Scrapville, and I will keep you all informed as to who will be next and when.............. you never know!

Paper Christmas Wreath Class
I would like to say that the classes held over the weekend saw some very focused ladies putting together some very beautiful Christmas Wreaths using the very popular Echo Park Christmas Papers.  The colours were wonderful, and I can't wait to see the finished products (once the RSI wears off!)....cutting, folding, cutting, folding, cutting!  I am very impressed with the individual choices of mixing up the petals, and the wonderfully relaxed manner of the tutor, who made the task so easy to follow!  A big thanks to Sally, and also to Melinda for her design of the Wreath.

Those that were unable to attend their nominated class and want to book into the next one can check into the Class List, then email Janet to make arrangements for bookings and deposits.  Bookings will not be accepted without a $20.00 deposit.

October Blind CropVilleI would like to Congratulate Nicole Carty, who recieved a creepy prize pack for her Halloween themed layout"Grrr...", which her boys will Love!!  Nicole's spooky layout was chosen by Melinda for being the closest to the Master layout.

New Stock
Those that have been waiting on the Black or the White Shadow Boxes for their layouts can now find them in store.
The much anticipated arrival of Christmas Papers has now arrived, along with Christmas ribbon, and several varieties of seasonal brads.
There are several new Fiskars Punches in store, including circle and scallop punches.  There will be more Fiskars Border Punches arriving next week, and I am also anticipating the arrival of Martha Stewart punch re-stocks of the Monarch Butterfly, Monarch Butterfly Border, Daisy Fan and others late next week or shortly thereafter.
New Prima adhesive Pearl Swirls with flower embellishments in pinks and greys.  These add a very nice touch to Shabby, Vintage and Heritage layouts.
Glimmer Mist, several colours including Fully Purple and Dazzling Diamonds.
New Lil Daisies from Sandie's Hand Made Daisies in an assortment of wonderful colours.  These are much smaller than the original, and all packages are based on matching up with the colours of a variety of well know paper ranges.
New Buttons on display in sample bags at the front counter, where you can easily choose which ones you like.
Green Tara - Arriving Soon!  If you can't find these in the shop shortly, just look for a brown box with two legs sticking out!! - that'll be me........... Oh boy, wait until you see what's coming......

October Newsletter

Hello Creative People, and welcome to the October Newsletter.
What a busy time we've had of late.  One minute it's August, then we're paddling off into October.  With Mother Nature throwing a spanner in the works it's any wonder there are so many colds and flu's still around.  The end of the snow season saw winter refusing to move on by dumping a chilling snow cover on the mountains.  Not happy with that, Mother Nature then threw in a bit of pitter patter from above, sending torrents of flood water across the region.  Apart from a little separation issue, Scrapville became home whilst the Blokey Man, the Boys and the Water Dog defended the Marooned Abode.  On full alert (they are good lerts!) and safe from intruding waters it became more of a waiting game this end until we could be reunited once again.  Those boys never missed Mums cooking so much!!

A little further out Melinda and the Farmer were stalking the river's rise at their back doorstep.  Fortunately the Broken Creek Accredited flood-level Marker did it's job at The Scrap Farm, and all warnings were safely heeded and the family abode remained dry.

If you could have seen the Boys and the Water Dog paddling about on the surf skis, you might ponder the depth of seriousness in their resilience to enjoy the moment, but we are aware and accept that there are many out there that did not fare quite as well.  I hope they are able to rise above the heartache and build new roads of hope for their futures.

In August the Blind CropVille was opened up for a second class to help meet the demand of a 3 month waiting list to book in!  It was great to see people taking up the offer of an extra class and joining in with the fun of the night that is Blind CropVille.  Bookings for the other early classes are now open, and with some people swapping their timeslots there may also be some spots available in the later classes. You will need to book in and pay your deposit to secure your spot.

At Scrapville we released our September Monthly Pack using the Heart & Home Collectables range from Melissa Frances.  This pack influenced a bit of rustic/shabby with a slightly impressionable hint or storybook added into the mix!  Our Creative Team girls did a great job with this one, and I think the outcomes are simply inspiring.  After having released an Extra Two packs in August, both from Kaisercraft using their Hey Birdie and Le Chateau ranges, we decided to run with just the one pack for September.

Scrapville September Sketch
The Scrapville September Sketch was uploaded to the Blog just before we headed off to Retreat, so it you haven't been in to grab one from the store, jump onto the Blog and print one off.  You have until Midnight on the 14th October to get yours in...

RetreatVille was an absolute blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know where it came from, it just seemed to jump right out of a big brown box and into my face before I knew it!    Big brown boxes were revisited to put things back into (which quite frankly is absolutely unheard of!...).  Once all packed up, they were then pointed at for the Blokey Man to bundle up and take out to Retreat.  I must say, he does Scrapbooking very well, I mean how heavy can it all be, it's just paper right??  The final numbers were a cozy 39, and we were fortunate to have a very fun and friendly group to boot.

Over the duration of RetreatVille we conducted an Altered Frame class with the talented Marg Oliver, who was assisted by Sally.  This came up beautifully, and the ladies all enjoyed learning how to make their own shabby fabric flowers.

"Love" Altered Frame by Marg Oliver (CT)

The Card Class was demonstrated by Sally, who enlightened the girls with Stamping & Embossing, windows, distressing and a very cute little bear on several styled cards.  These were very colourful, and opened up a multitude of techniques to try.  (photos to be uploaded shortly..........)

The Stitching Layout was duly given to Heather Bensley to take charge of.  Those of you that know Heather will understand how very difficult a task it is to complete any kind of layout without a little bit of stitching!  It was with much joy that I handed this one over to Heather, who demonstrated with ease the joys of using stitching on your layouts.  A most enjoyable class.

"Life Speaks" Stitching Layout by Heather Bensley (CT)
Each of those attending the Altered Layout class with our very talented Melinda Spinks were quite surprised to find themselves holding a vinyl record in their packs!  This was to prove such an interesting class, with the records being painted and crackled, and then decorated with a lot of fussy cutting and paper rolling.  It was great to see how the girls put their records together with their own little touches.

The Retreaters were given their own special little treat on Thursday Night, with our own in-house Blind Crop.  The Real Blind CropVille's are usually held at Scrapville with Melinda at the other end of the Computer, and we were really looking forward to her being at RetreatVille and running the Blind Crop in person.  Unfortunately had she not felt the need to go joy riding in ambulances, she would have been there, so alas - we improvised in her absence.  We will most definitely look forward to her taking charge of the next one!!  (.........and yes, thankfully she was ok after a little scare at the farm.........)

As part of the Welcome Pack, all the Retreaters were given a Retreat Sketch to complete at their leisure.  I am so glad everyone is enjoying the challenge of the Sketches, as we are seeing so much inspiration evolving.  The Retreat was no exception, and I will also be sharing some of the completed layouts shortly.

Part of the Woo Haa of an event is recognizing those that have made a difference to the Event, whether it be the organizing, running, boxing, bagging, samples or that shoulder shaking thing!  It all makes a difference to the outcome, and often will not come about as smoothly without that input.  So, without further ado I would like to thank:
................ that little voice in my head that said "yeah, do it, it'll be fine.....!!"  I always listen to the voices..............
  • Melinda: your input is invaluable on so many different levels.  Thank you for your friendship, your support in implementing plans and ideas, and your belief in growing dreams.
  • Sally: your input is invaluable on so many different levels... for always being there, knowing how best to get it done, and your unquestionable attitude and belief in me.
  • Marg: for your support and wonderful work, and not using the tape, and well for goodness sake you did a class girlfriend!!
  • Heather: for sharing your inspiring work, and putting together your wonderful class.
  • Allana: I'd like to send you a great big hug, and want to acknowledge all your support.  Personally, as a friend, and as your bad ass boss! I would sincerely like to thank you very much...
  • To the girls: who came, who counted, who bagged, who priced and who forgot the wine...!  Maybe that last bit was a good thing......... Jennie, Helen, Di & Heather thanks.
  • Lui, Lui, Lui!!  Why where do I start??  Why, with the children!  Thanks Brayden and Riley for all your help packing and unpacking and dodging the ushering gig that was going to pay really good tips!  I am glad you are both taller than me now and can lift things!  To the Blokey Man for his directing of Manufacturing Services for shelving and storage, for picking up and delivering and packing up the shop.  For your support full stop.  ................. and yes I'm sorry, I'm doing it again!
  • Michelle: for the opportunity and advice.
  • To my suppliers who went to great lengths to make sure I had the stock I needed for Retreat, and for going the extra mile to get it to me.  Your contributions were greatly appreciated.
So that was RetreatVille for 2010, and although I'm sure there'll still be lots of talk for some time yet, the word's already out that there will definitely be a 2011 RetreatVille!

The October Monthly Pack is out and can now be collected from Scrapville.  This month we have chosen a New and Very Popular line from Echo Park, selecting the Life Is Good range.  The previous two ranges released at Retreat were also very popular, with the colours very much the in thing at the moment.

The Monthly Extra is the Porcelain range from BasicGrey.  This range is dominated by a beautiful pink patterned paper of birdcages, and a softening range of hues from yellows to greens and brown.  Matched up with fine puffy SEI alphas, cream lace, small crocheted flowers, music paper, pearl beading and a mixture of coordinating buttons, this pack should encourage your creativity to spring into action!

The Creative Team samples of these packs will be uploaded to the Blog at the end of next week.  The number of Monthly Extra Packs available is strictly limited, so get in early before they go.

For those of you that have not been into the store of late there is much to see.  We have received into stock several Cricut Cartridges, more Universal Embossing folders, re-stocks of the Patches D Ring Albums and Album Refills.  There is a huge range of Glimmer Mist, and several new Martha Stewart punches.  There are new Ribbons and Lace and Buttons and Christmas Ribbons.  If you are loving the latest Pom Pom Bobble trend, then you will find a colour to suit your projects in-store.

The rest is pretty much 'come and see for yourself'.  I will be updating the Blog as we receive more newly arrived orders from international shores.  Also soon to arrive is the Christmas patterned paper lines and Bling, embellishments and Prima Bling.
